Lost in Puglia

At the end of the summer, my group and I had decided to take a week's vacation. After several proposals and options, we had decided to go to Puglia by motorcycle, stopping on the way there and back in Umbria. When we arrived at our intermediate destination, a couple of our companions were missing from the roll call and we were unable to contact them because of poor phone coverage around Perugia. Shortly afterwards we got a call from them asking where we were and it turns out that the friend who was driving had gone from memory because his navigator had malfunctioned; plus the passenger who was with him did not have his phone handy so they stopped as soon as they could, about 10 km from the destination. That evening we lost time waiting for them, because with the passenger holding his cell phone to get the navigator, obviously the cruising speed was reduced. Fortunately, I had my old navigator with me, which, however old, did a sufficient job to enable us to enjoy the vacation without further hiccups and tedious wasting of time.

Since that time, I have always wondered if there was a way to avoid this kind of unforeseen occurrence and perhaps divide the drudgery of the trip between driver and passenger. Fortunately, I discovered PAG and had no more such problems!
